Day Five- Cape Lookout and Cape Meares

We got up to walk along the beach in the morning to again collect sand dollars. It was a little misty and overcast. We had breakfast and then were off to hike to the end of Cape Lookout. I did not remember that it was a six mile hike but Cindy was a trooper and did it anyway even with her knee problem. There are some spectacular views along the way as you are above the ocean with steep cliffs on either side and you are in a rain forest.

We reached the end of land and enjoyed the lookout and then it was  back to the car which was three miles away. On the way back within a half mile of the car we came across a lady that made Cindy feel bad. There were some real rough places to walk on and with Cindy's knee we had to be careful so we were a little slower. This lady had got out the car in her dress shoes and then walked a little bit and came back. She passed us on the way and made a comment that she was surprised that she had passed us with the shoes she was wearing. She had not gone 6 miles with no ACL and it made Cindy feel sad by that comment.

After that we had a meal and then went over to Cape Meares to see the light house. There is the octopus trees which is a strangely formed Sitka Spruce.

Then we walked down to the light house. There are some great views from this area. Shannon and I even saw an elephant seal swimming in the water below us.

We went back to camp and spent some time at the beach but there was no sunset to view this night.
