Variety of Things

The end of September had a variety of  experiences. Nothing grand or earthshaking  but was still something I wanted to record. First the house addition. Almost two months ago I hit my thumb with a hammer. I mean really hit it. The nail is now slowly coming off. Why not a picture to record it. You can see a couple of small holes. This is where Shannon took a heated needle and melted the nail to relieve the pressure the day after I did it.

Speaking of the addition, this is what the addition looks like on October 5.

We really did not have a chance to see the leaves change this year up close. It rained hard when the leaves in the mountians were changing so I started to look at the color in our yard, both leaves and flowers.

Adding to that color was this dragon fly sitting on a plant in our yard.

Another activity is Payton and Connor and Aaron and Tawna's kids playing in the sand. The storms the week before made the sand solid enough that they could dig tunnels in their castle.

The final pictures deal with a recent one day trip to L.A. for work.  I thought it was interesting to see  the patterns of development from the air. The first is looking at the speed skating oval in Kearns and then the Oquarh Mountain Temple and the Daybreak development.

Then there was the length the shadows of the mountains creates at dawn. I never realized how much of a shadow the mountains cast. The next picture is Las Vegas and how the freeway defines the center of town.

The next morning was leaving LA and with the sun rising and us being above the ground I could easily see the smog that fills the valley even tough on the ground it was not apparent. As I approached Salt Lake we flew over the Bingham Canyon Mine. It was interesting to see how much of a mountain had been reviewed over the years.
